If the aliens are here, that means our understanding of physics is very partial. But we already knew that, didn’t we?

Meet the Artist

Genevieve Gorrell, M.Phil. (Cantab), Ph.D.

A retired computer scientist, having published in algorithms, and later, online disinformation, as well as being educated to masters level in psychology, my interests include the philosophy of AI, Buddhism and the work of Carl Jung, as well as all things strange and paranormal. My style embraces elements of dark academia, esoterica, cosycore, grunge and retro.

I work in vector graphics (Inkscape) based on my own pen and ink drawings and other source materials.

I’m based in north west England, where I also run a gardening business. (If you want that kind of business artwork, by the way, I will do it for a reasonable fee!)

Buddhist Nidānas as Roadmap for Artificial Sentience

In response to the recent interest in the capacity for artificial intelligence to become sentient, in 2022 I wrote a paper that outlines sentience as described by core Buddhist teaching. To summarise briefly, I suggest that sentience most parsimoniously emerges as a response to the problems that arise competing for computational resources in a fractured single mind, rather like an agent-based model of problem solving. Are we all living in a simulation? You can see the paper on Vixra here: https://vixra.org/abs/2206.0153

Etsy Shop

I have a fledgeling shop on Etsy, currently featuring a select assortment of digital downloads, including a colouring in sheet I made in honour of the bravery of UFO whistleblower David Grusch, showing the large red cube UFO, as well as the dark cubes contained within transparent spheres. Hoping to expand the shop with more retro tech inspired drawings, as I find the time… Also now featuring traditional paintings!
